Bojan Kekec was elected to the National Council as a representative of local interests (14. electoral unit – Novo mesto).

In the National Council, he is:

  • member of the Interest Group of Local Interests,
  • president of the Commission for International Relations and European Affairs,
  • member of the Commission for State Organisation.

About the member of the National Council

Bojan Kekec was born on 4 May 1965 in Novo mesto. He attended elementary school in Novo mesto and then enrolled in the Secondary School for Electrical Engineering in Krško, graduating in 1984. After completing mandatory military service, he started his employment at Novoteks. Soon afterwards, he enrolled in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and successfully obtained a higher degree in electronics while working. In 1989, he started his employment at Komunala Novo mesto (Sanitation Novo mesto). In 1994, he took over as head of the sector on water supply and later also became a technical director. In 1998, he enrolled in a higher education programme for electrical engineering and successfully completed it while working. In 2003, he received an award from the Municipality of Novo mesto for his research in the field of automation of plumbing systems. For a couple of years, he lectured at the Higher Vocational College for Public Utilities in Novo mesto. In 2007, he was appointed director of Komunala Novo mesto. His desire to obtain new knowledge led him to enrol in a master’s programme in the field of energy, which he completed with honours and received an award for the most successful student from the University in Maribor. Upon completing his director’s mandate at Komunala Novo mesto, he started employment at Slovenske železnice (Slovenian Railways), where he led one of the largest Slovenian infrastructure organisations SŽ – Infrastruktura d.o.o., for two and a half years. Today, he leads the management board and assembly of two important international European railway corridors and represents Slovenske železnice in important international organisations, as well as leads the project of energy management. He is also chair of the largest Slovenian cultural association KUD Tine Rožanc in Ljubljana. He is president of the SDS urban committee in Novo mesto and a member of the SDS executive committee. In its professional council, he leads the field of transport infrastructure. He has been a municipal councillor for the Municipality of Novo mesto for three terms. He lives with his family in Novo mesto.
