Darko Zevnik was elected to the National Council as a representative of local interests (15. electoral unit – Črnomelj).
In the National Council, he is:
- member of the Interest Group of Local Interests,
- member of the Commission for Education, Culture, Science, Sport and the Youth,
- member of the Commission for Local Self-Government and Regional Development.
About the member of the National Council
Darko Zevnik was born in 1972 in Novo mesto, is married and a father of three children.
Darko Zevnik graduated from secondary school in Novo mesto with the title of an electrical engineer in electronics. In 2007, he completed the Management and Operations College in Novo mesto while working, thus obtaining the title of a bachelor of economics.
For many years, he was employed at the company Kolpa, d.d., where he performed different tasks until 2010 when he left the position as head of quality assurance and started work as a professional deputy mayor at the Municipality of Metlika. During his employment with the company, he also performed the function of the union president and member of the presidency of the Chemical, Non-Metal and Rubber Industries Trade Union of Slovenia.
In 2012, he was elected mayor of the Municipality of Metlika at the by-election. He performed this function until 2022. He entered local politics in 2006, when he was elected to the municipal council and continued to perform this function until 2012 when he was elected mayor, and again since 2022.
In his spare time, he is a member of numerous organisations, is a blood donor, enjoys attending cultural events, as well as engages in hobbies such as shooting and archery.
