He was elected to the National Council as a representative of local interests (4. electoral unit - Slovenska Bistrica).

In the National Council, he is:

  • head of the Interest Group of Local Interests,
  • member of the Commission for Local Self-Government and Regional Development,
  • member of the Commission for State Organisation.

About the member of the National Council

Milan Ozimič was born on 15 September 1957. He spent his childhood in Spodnja Nova vas and completed elementary school in Slovenska Bistrica. He continued his education in Maribor at the secondary technical school and then at the Technical College in the field of mechanical engineering. In 1980, he graduated at the I. level.

After completing his studies in 1980, he was employed at the company IMPOL Slovenska Bistrica, where he performed professional tasks of a constructor and project manager of aluminium structures in construction, and later also leadership tasks as a department head and director of the firm IMPOL-MONTAL, d.o.o.. In March 1996, he was appointed to the function of the secretary of the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica, and in 1998 he became the director of the municipal administration. He did this work until May 2007, when he was employed as the project execution manager at the commercial firm ALMONT, d.o.o.. After the company went bankrupt, he again became employed at the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica in 2012 as the head of department for the environment and spatial planning. He performed this work until he retired in 2022.

He joined the Social Democratic Association of Slovenia at its founding congress in 1989. Since then, he has been active in the Slovene Democratic Party and in the political developments on the local and national level. He was elected to the Assembly of the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica at local elections in 1990, and then in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 to the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica.

In 1997, he was first elected as a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, a representative of local interests, in the 4th electoral unit which includes the municipalities Lovrenc na Pohorju, Selnica ob Dravi, Ruše, Oplotnica, Makole, Poljčane and Slovenska Bistrica. He was re-elected in 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2022. In the National Council, he is active in the Commission for State Administration and the Commission for Local Self-Government and Regional Development. He is the head of the Interest group of Local Interests, which he has been leading for the fourth term.
