Work of the National Council and its working bodies is public. Public access may only be restricted or removed if the National Council or its working body so decides. Sessions of the National Council and its Commissions are public and may be directly observed by Slovene citizens.

Public nature of the National Council's work is also ensured through media coverage; all material related to sessions of the National Council and its working bodies is made available to the media (except for materials of a confidential nature). Furthermore, the public is notified of the work and events at the National Council through press conferences, reports, statements, websites, and the National Council's Gazette. Press conferences may be called by the President of the National Council on behalf of the National Council or by chairs of its Commissions and heads of its Interest Groups on their behalf.

Work of the National Council and its decisions are presented on websites, in the Rapporteur of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, and in the National Council's Gazette.

The National Council - Interconnecting Society for 25 Years

In front of you lies a monograph about the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, which recently celebrated a quarter century of its existence. Certainly, we are first thankful for their successful work to all former presidents of the National Council, as they broke ground constituting the political system of our young state, vice presidents, and members of the National Council in all five terms. We are especially grateful to secretaries of the National Council and the specialised service who conducted their work with great professional enthusiasm and tireless optimism, all of which was necessary in the crucial period of strengthening the state-building foundations of our young democracy.

- M.Sc. Mitja Bervar, president of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia in the fifth term
